Dear all,

During the public seminar, taken place at VTM in Dayton, Ohio on May 16th 2009, I've had mentioned about our plan for the kungfu vacation (Vacation+Seminar+Workshop) in 2010 to Indonesia where the HKB Eng Chun came out to the public.

In this trip, we will get a chance to meet with Sukong(Grandmaster) Tio who is Suhu Lin's Suhu and also the rest of our big families and communities of HKB Eng Chun (Black Flag Wing Chun) in Indonesia and of course working out with them while also traveling to some beautiful places together with Suhu Lin and Sukong Tio.

The itinerary details will be on the way, in the mean time, please check some pictures and videos about Indonesia in general to give you an idea what it looks like.

I can't express just how much I am looking forward to this adventure.  This trip could literally be a once in a lifetime chance for many people.  This is my first chance to be a part of the living history of kungfu and I can't wait.  Thank you Sifu for making this possible.

This will be one of most important trips from the perspective of Wing Chun history research.
The VTM will fully support it.

Besides, the tour sounds great. I and my family are looking forward to it.

Dear Instructors, Students and Friends,

Congratulation for taking part during the tour that we plan.
We have moved one step closer to the "day"of the trip. We have received the issuance of the e-tickets for all the people that are going on the trip.

Please Check your email as I have attached the e-ticket & Plane Itinerary details.
I have also attached the medical questionnaires form in that email that I need everyone to fill out, please be specific and let me know if you have any medical concern. And please return the form as soon as possible.

In the mean time, you can read couple important subjects for your trip preparations.

1. Baggage and Carry On.
You are allowed to bring 2 baggages according to this restriction;

# Weight of each bag may not exceed 50 lb (23 Kg)
For the Carry on bags, it may not exceed 56x36x23cm(22x14x9 in.) in size or 7kg in weight.

3. Getting some vaccination shots

I do recommend to get some vaccination shots before you go, as advised by CDC.Quoted from their website: "CDC recommends that you see a health-care provider who specializes in Travel Medicine.  Find a travel medicine clinic near you. If you have a medical condition, you should also share your travel plans with any doctors you are currently seeing for other medical reasons."

Here is more information about this;
http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/indonesia.aspx

 If you live in Fredericksburg, VA, here is the place where you can more information about these shots; http://passporthealthva.com/

for everyone going to Indonesia

http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/registration/registration_1186.html

it is recommended to register your passport with the Department of State

"Registration at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate (in the country you are visiting) makes your presence and whereabouts known, in case it is necessary for a consular officer to contact you in an emergency. During a disaster overseas, American consular officers can assist in evacuation were that to become necessary. But they cannot assist you if they do not know where you are."

I really wish I was able to go on this particular trip.  I hope everyone going has a woderfull time.  I believe it is the chance of a lifetime to study the roots of Wing/Eng Chun in person.  A real eye opening experience.  Enjoy!

Visiting Martial Arts Masters Arrive in Probolinggo, Indonesia to honor Grand Masters of Rare Lineage

Fredericksburg , Virginia , U.S.A. and Indonesia , March 23, 2010.

After five years in the U.S.  Master Kenneth Lin Xiang Fuk is returning to Indonesia on March 18, 2010, for three weeks of celebration, networking, and intensive training.  “We’ll be sweating...and smiling!” he says delightedly.

Accompanying him, are Martial Artists from around the world who study this rare System. “Phenomenal Energy control and manipulation; strikes which require no distance!  Hek Ki Boen Eng Chun Kun is a Martial Arts System which preserves the original wisdom of Shaolin,” says Master Benny Meng, PhD, researcher, author, and curator of the Ving Tsun Museum , the oldest Martial Arts Museum in the United States .
“The knowledge was nurtured and preserved within the Chinese Secret Society in China, since 1909 found new home in Indonesia and then brought out to the public in 1970, when the political climate no longer required secrecy,” explains Dr. Meng.  Hek Ki Boen Eng Chun is Fukienese dialect for Black Flag Wing Chun. “Can you imagine responding to an attack by ending it in one move – with no distance! This is something that most people have only heard about. Yet HKB contains effective training methods which certainly bring forth this ability. Master Lin is the only one currently teaching it in the U.S.”
Grandmaster Tio still teaches closed-door disciples and lives in Probolinggo of East Java but has given the solemn responsibility to his successor Master Kenneth Lin, to be the primary vehicle for making Eng Chun available to international practitioners. “I have tremendous gratitude for the depth this precious Art has brought to my life,” says Suhu(Master) Lin. “Sukong (Grand Master) Tio – as well as Sujo (Great-Grand Master) King Yang, and KongCo (GGGM) Tjia Fun Jiao -- dedicated their lives to preserving this knowledge for future generations. The best way for me to honor the Treasure they have given me, is to ensure that the System survives intact by passing it on to new students – sincere practitioners -- of every nationality.”

Suhu (Master) Lin is uniquely positioned to make this ancient knowledge available to the world. He is multilingual, and he studied Eng Chun in Indonesia since the age of ten. “My teachers were father figures to me,” he says, “they nurtured my teaching ability, provided leadership and helped me to develop my own vision.”  Master Lin currently owns and operates the Shaolin Kungfu Center in Fredericksburg , Virginia , U.S.A. He is in the process of certifying teachers and training centers in many U.S. locations, as well as in Germany , U.K. , Amsterdam , Brazil , Canada and Italy . “My vision? For Chinese Kung Fu to be known and available to anyone who wants to practice it to improve their whole selves, their whole lives!”
Students accompanying their Suhu (Sifu) (Master) Master Lin on this trip, intend to present a gift to Grand Master Tio, to express their gratitude for the precious teaching they have received, as it has been passed down to them. The plaque will be a symbol of the deep joy and thankfulness they feel, they said, for how Grand Master Tio helped to develop the personal qualities and high level of kungfu in Master Lin, which make him such an outstanding teacher and father figure in this Martial Arts Family. Under his leadership, HKB is gaining students at a tremendous rate.

Says Master Benny Meng, Curator of the Ving Tsun Museum , “The conclusion of the Ving Tsun Museum , after extensive research, is that Hek Ki Boen Eng Chun is an Original Shaolin System. It carries certain markers – elements which identify it as stemming from Shaolin. It is a Complete System, meaning that it addresses the physical, mental and spiritual components of who we are as human beings, with unified principles developing each.”
